Atelier Pagnamenta Torriani designed the Lebanese American University’s new library and administration building in Byblos Campus, Lebanon. Inspired by the site's exposed rock formations and regional history, the design integrates natural elements with modern architecture. The buildings, positioned near excavated rock, create an open amphitheater blending nature and man-made structures. They feature dynamic forms with layered exteriors for shade and light optimization. Inside, a spacious atrium enhances natural light and airflow, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. The design incorporates passive features for sustainability, including a double outer skin for shading and ventilation. Overall, the project aims to foster synergy between academic and social activities, providing an inclusive space for learning and exchange.
